The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or “Mormons”, as they are more commonly called, have been around since 1830. The church was founded by a man named Joseph Smith in New York. Shortly thereafter the entire church body moved across the midwest, eventually to Missouri. It was there in Missouri where Governor Lilburn Boggs issued executive order fourty four or, as it is more commonly called, the “Extermination Order”. The Missouri executive order forty four was an order issued in 1838 by Governor Boggs, a former governor of the state of Missouri.

From early on in her life, Joanna Brooks always understood that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made her different form others. She knew that she was different but not in a bad way but rather in a special. Joanna brook’s memoir traces her faith journey beginning with her childhood in a secure and idealistically orthodox LDS family in Southern California to an adult woman.
The Mormons were a group
Joseph Smith, the leader of the Mormons, arrived in neighboring Jackson County in 1831 with a group of his followers. They believed that they would inherit the land that was already owned by earlier settlers through righteousness. This created tension between the Mormons and the earlier arrivals, and in 1833, the Mormons were forcibly driven from Jackson County. Many relocated to Clay County and later to Caldwell County, but lasting peace was not to be achieved. In 1838, Joseph Smith and several other Mormon leaders were arrested and jailed in Liberty over the winter.
We have all seen the Disney movie Pocahontas, but what we did not know what the historical differences and similarities between the two. Pocahontas was a daughter of the chief of the Powhatan Indians, and served as a mediator for her people and the English in both the movie and her life. Though the battle of colonizing the New World and converting the Indians to Christianity was much more violent in real life. She went on to marry Englishman John Rolfe, and changed her name to a more civilized name, Rebecca and became a leader and historical figure in colonization of the New World. Later in life she would become a beckon of hope for the English that they would be able to colonize the New world and convert the indigenous people to Christianity.
Mormonism is a continuation of the Protestant Reformation because Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, had announced that he “had been visited by an angel and taught the foundations of one true religion” when the U.S. was at the height of the Second Great Awakening (“Mormonism”). The Second Great Awakening was essentially a Protestant religious revival movement so in an American context, Mormonism would be more likely to be considered a continuation rather than a wholly new religion with roots or connection to any other religion. Yet, while Mormonism is a form of Christianity, it is distinct enough from traditional Christianity to form a new religious tradition (sect). The Mormans have a distinct scripture that was dedicated to go alongside the Bible. Looking to have modern ways of thinking about God and thinking about what they perceive to be family values. They take back the idea of ancient priesthood, as an authoritative figure and is key to spreading the ideas and words about God. In this, the belief of Mormonism is that everyone is family. As compared to the Shakers, communal living, celibacy and pacifism are the pillars that this religion stands on.
In the 1500s, after Martin Luther broke off from the Catholic Church, more people wanted to create their own reformed church (Nolt 11). Some of these people, called the Anabaptists had created their own church that had to meet privately in order to escape persecution. Eventually this group of people would split off into Mennonites and Amish communities. To this day, the Amish have stayed humble in their spiritual lives, while outsiders still see them as ‘weird,’ since they do not fit in. The Amish people have a wide sense of spirituality, which is difficult to comprehend as an outsider; therefore, outsiders meaninglessly apply stereotypes to the Amish to try to understand their lifestyle.

They are suppposted to take care of everything, be ahead of coooking and chores also taking care of loved ones. These women are never supposted to make the money , that is the men roles. Some are punshied or be ashamed of if not following the man of the house holds rules. They have slim to no rights, they are an important of the commutiy of beiing their roles.
Some differences in the stories Iroquois and the Judeo Christian is having an almighty god. In the Judeo Christian story they believe that god created the heavens and the earth. Unlike in the Iroquois story where they believe that there is no almighty god and that the earth was made on a turtle's back. In the Iroquois story animals play a huge part starting with the two birds breaking Sky Womens fall. Also in a way they are viewed as a god or a power source.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is literally the Son of God, the Savior and Redeemer, who died for the sins of humankind and rose from the dead on the third day with an immortal body. God, the Father, also has an immortal body.
The Differences and Similarities between Native American and Puritan Literature Native American and Puritan Literature have their own distinct culture and traditions. They also incorporate it into their literature. Puritan literature was mostly passed down through sermons, diaries, journals, and poems. Native Americans were indigenous people of the Americas and their literature was traditional oral and written. Both Native Americans and Puritan Literature have similar elements of culture, such as religion, beliefs, and morals.
As stated in mormonbeliefs.org, Mormons believe that God had materials in order to create the uniform and organize the world out of chaos. John smith believes that the earth itself was not created out of nothing, but out of organized matter. They believe that we as human beings were created by God in order for his children to grow and eventually make their end goal to be more like him. This creation myth helps members to believe that if they follow the commands of the Lord, and they adhere to all of the things that Christ wants from them, they will see that the plan of salvation will work in their favor, and they will be rewarded for their good deeds here on earth.
