Introduction
Motivation and emotion are two fundamental aspects of all animals and specifically humans that have numerous effects on our lives. Not only are these two of similar importance, they are closely related in their effects on human’s everyday life choices and both have equal effects on one another. They are crucial in our evolution over other primates, as a drive to stimulate us to carry out everyday tasks to ensure survival but more importantly, more often than not emotions themselves will serve as a stimulus for motivation. Their relationship is of utmost importance to humans however it is also significant to note their differences and the effects this can have on our choices.
In order to better understand the relationship, similarities and differences between motivation and emotion as well as the effects they have on one another, it is vital that each one is closely magnified individually whereby making their relationship more evident.
What is motivation?
Motivation is defined as a combination of internal and external factors that bring about a desire to attain a goal such as a job, making money, finding a life partner and reproducing (Unknown, 2016). Motivations arise when our receptors are stimulated by a deviation from homeostasis. Homeostasis as viewed by psychologists is when the state of tension has been eliminated (Instructor and Caporale, 2003), in other words when a stimulus creating motivation is no longer of importance, homeostasis has been
