Staying on track, Chapter 9 talks about the Gift of Sexuality in our human lives as well as offenses that can harm the gift of our own sexuality. A major issue today in regards to sexuality would be homosexual activity, which is activity between members of the same sex. Church teaching based on Divine Revelation holds the homosexual genital activity is objectively sinful. However the Church recognizes that Homosexual activity is not the same as Homosexual Orientation, agreeing with social sciences, that they do not choose to bet that way and not morally guilty for who they are. I am fully aware of the sinfulness of the sin, and that this is a sin. However, Jesus taught throughout all of his ministry that we must hate the sin, and lover the sinner. Christians at all time and every moment are called to show respect and compassion to all no matter the circumstances as a doctor is called to help everyone he sees needing medical attention. In human life, these people are constantly in struggles, while we as men and women of Christ must show these people the respect that all human life deserve, continued compassion and sympathy. Secondly, one of the Beatitudes states that “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God” meaning those who suffer now amongst challenges, human hatred, they should be welcomed as Christ- like brothers and sisters. However, the homosexual community must understand that homosexual genital acts are morally wrong and is going against the teachings of Christ since they deny the life giving and unitive nature of sexual love that should only take place in a marriage between a man and a woman.
