Bill Maher, a famous comedian, starred in and narrated the film Religulous, from which he expressed his utter disbelief in the blind faith people possessed through their religion. Maher makes a cogent and strong inductive argument when making the conclusion that religion is dangerous (Maher, 2008). Religion can either bring out the worst in people, or the best and sadly, religion is often times responsible for massacres, terrorism, and death. When people lack the critical thinking skills to challenge their faith, people become blind slaves to their religion and any influence thought to be stronger than one’s own.
In the film Religulous, the audience is taken a long with Maher to several interviews and encounters across the globe from which Maher asks harsh but fair questions that many do not know the answer to. With so many “I don’t know” and “trust in God’s,” Maher questions why anyone would follow a religion with so many holes and un-answered questions. People who feel passionately about their religion seem to be completely content with the un-knowns and mismatched stories claiming that all one must do is “have faith.” It is easy to see why Maher would object and expect more from a religion that controls so much of people’s daily lives.
Maher interviews people from all cultural back grounds and all occupations asking similar questions that always have similar answers. Political figures use faith to further their campaign yet do not seem to understand their faith at all. Preachers make …show more content…
