What is faith? Faith is the belief or trust in someone or something. With that being said how is religion the third leading cause for conflict in history. How can a group of individuals' beliefs spark such conflict? The purpose of faith is to believe something happens to everyone after death, in the case for Christianity God decides whether the individual benefited society enough to go to Heaven or Hell. Hindu's believe in reincarnation, and if an individual has positive karma then they will be rewarded by having a better life after reincarnation. If the individual had negative karma they could reincarnate as a life form that is looked down on by humans such as insects. Buddhists believe in Samsara and that through positive karma they will …show more content…
People who participate in extremist groups do horrible acts to those who do not worship same religion as them. When groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda do acts of terror they do not believe they are doing wrong. The leaders of these groups are deceiving their people into thinking it is right to kill other religious groups. This is an extreme case in how religions believe that other religious groups have been deceived and need to be punished in order to serve their God. Islam is not a dangerous religion; they preach love for all, and hatred for none. Deception does not always could from people thinking other religions are being deceived. Sometimes deception comes from within the religion. In the 1500's people of the Catholic faith could buy indulgences from priests; cards were instated so Christians could be forgiven of their sins for a fee. Christians believe that after death their soul goes to purgatory and that is where God determines whether they deserve Heaven or …show more content…
I personally do not believe that other faiths believe in false gods but rather that there are many ways to worshiping. Some of older family members cannot tolerate when people talk about religions other than what they worship. I also think it is appropriate to explore other religions; there are many positive reasons to worship each faith. Christianity Islam and the Jewish faith all worship the one God and they make many decisions based on if their God will react to their action. This is because when a person in those faiths die their God ultimately judges decides their fate in the afterlife. For other faiths such as Hinduism, they believe in reincarnation and they are a more open-minded people who make their decision based on karma that will influence their future. They believe in what comes around goes around meaning that if they do something that will have a negative impact on someone else then that will come back in another form to hurt them physically or mentally in the future. For Buddhists, they are more of a relaxed religious group, they believe in another form of karma called Samsara and that after they complete a pure enough life they will reach enlightenment. All of the religions are not meant to hurt anyone, but people in those religious groups take it upon themselves to punish those who are not in their faith because they do not believe in their
