“Remember the Alamo”
The Alamo the battle where men fought and sacrificed their lives for Texas’s independence. The battle was between Texas and Mexico. Many people died at the Alamo infact nearly 257 Texans died and nearly 600 Mexicans died, 857 people died. Including people like Davy Crockett, James Bowie, William B. Travis, and William Dearduff. The Alamo went from February, 23 to March, 1836. The sun rose over the Alamo to reveal bloodied bodies and be left in a smokey ruins when the general finally stopped the fire of weapons. They saw many dead bodies blacken faces dismember bodies, weapons, and torn clothing; it was a truly horrifying site. The President of the Mexican Republic Said that it was “A small Affair” But it was anything but a small a affair. But that still dose not take away that a bloody was was fought there that help Texas gain its independence from Mexico. Even though the Texan defenders were greatly they still put up a fight to help them win, they may have lost the battle but they still had a war. Scholars and history buffs over time have strive to take away layers from the legend of the Alamo. They have even made tried to represent the Alamo battle on the Big Screen from Richard Bruce Winders’s 1998 movie three Roads to the alamo and John Lee Hancock's 2004 version of the Battle.(Santoni, P.) There were many famous Alamo Defender like Davy Crockett, James Bowie, William B Travis. They were pretty much 300 grizzled mountain men versus thousands of Mexicans. But the main Alamo defender I want to talk about is William Dearduff one of my ancestors. He was born In Tennessee and Moved to Texas in 1831. He was born in 1810 at least around there he died at the Alamo in 1836 at the age 25 or 26. When he died he was a private in the Texas
