The topic of interest that will be presented in this paper will be that of Homelessness. Homelessness is a worldwide issue that affects the lives of many people. Although it is mostly found to be present in Third World countries, many citizens across the United States face it and are suffering from it as well. From families to veterans and even children Homelessness can happen to anyone as a result of many different events/for many different reasons. Through this topic we will be able to examine the McKinney Vento Act of 1987 and how it affects Homelessness in the U.S..

Booth House provides a great service to the community of Syracuse. It has led to less mixing of the homeless population by creating a separate place for teen boys and girls. Though their process is not perfect and there is always room for improvement, they still manage to impact many lives. While writing this paper the writer began to really contemplate the assessment process at Booth House. To the writer Booth House’s confidentiality process is well done.

Summary: Advocates petition on police officers to stop giving tickets and arresting the Homeless of Downtown San Diego. On Tuesday January 3, 2017 advocates garden 1100 signatures to stop the unfair treatment to people who leave on the streets of San Diego. until housing solution gets resolve. They also demanded solutions to stop the increase of homelessness. For the past two years people who live on the streets has increased instead of declining.
SHOW CONNECTION Jon Kurht’s article “When helping doesn't help” is a personal narrative discussing Kurht’s experience managing a homeless shelter, and discussing the hardships and complications that come with helping the homeless. Kuhrt notably states that shelters “actually bred further cynicism and depression in those young people because many were ashamed of what they were doing - they knew they were profiting from the naivety and kindness of others.” Logos can be found within the reasoning and conclusions found by Kurht. Stakeholders are considered as valuable, because they have an affect or have an effect on prevention. In order for stakeholders to get involve, it is important to include action research so that they have an ideal of construction effective explanation to the issue being researched (Stringer, 2007). As time goes on, the rate of homelessness rises as the population rises. Homelessness then was mostly caused by a family’s history of being homeless, drug abuse, mental disorders, and tyrannical leaders forcing his people into poverty. In modern times, several organizations are now trying to end homelessness by building cheaper housing projects more affordable to the poor and homeless shelters; these projects usually cost a fair amount of money.
The purpose of their study was to establish a better understanding of the characteristics of the mentally-ill homeless adults. Upon the collection of data through a review of the archived shelter medical records of the 74 subjects included in the study, the researchers aggregated and analyzed the data, calculating the medication adherence rates for the previous 30days. Mental illness and substance use disorders in the study were identified in 67.6 percent and 44.6 percent of the participants respectively. These findings prompted the acknowledgement that homeless individuals suffering from mental illness that specialized transitional shelters serve constitutes of population whose psychiatric, social and mental needs are complex. Thus, the characteristics of homeless populations are complicated by the numerous needs that need systematic assessment and thoughtful addressing to enhance the likelihood of successful outcomes (Viron, Bello, Freudenreich, & Shtasel, 2014).

The elderly homeless population in the United States have services in place. As mention previously, this population are at a greater disadvantages from the norm because of their living condition and limit services. According to some studies previously done, there is a specific age group that is in more disadvantages of services because they do not meet the federal or state qualification guidelines for services. The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
Increase the number of the free clinics that will provide some health issue. Homeless population are at risk for chronic illness making them vulnerable to volience and substance abuse. This population has limited access to resources; difficulty in essentials of daily living: food, clothing, shelter. Often these individual has an underlining mental health issues or substance abuse problems. They do not have support outside their homeless community.
