In the United States there are two major parties involved in our political structure, Democrats and Republicans. Since 1836, these two parties have dominated the political scene and Democrats and Republicans have controlled Congress and the presidency since 1860. Now, within these two parties there are people with progressive and conservative ideologies. These ideologies are not confined to only one political party, but instead are largely based on the individual’s opinion and perspective. Generally speaking though, most conservatives are Republicans and most progressives are Democrats.
During Revolutionary America, two political parties came about: the Federalists and the Democratic-Republics. The Federalists believed in supported federal administration and were highly in favor of the Constitution, while the Democratic-Republicans favored the idea of extending the Revolution to everyday people. Their party names reflect their standpoints. The Election of 1796 was the first in American History for candidates running for office to belong to organized political parties.
In the excerpt from Night by Elie Wiesel, the main character meets a “french girl” that is also hiding from the Nazis to avoid being sent to the concentration camps. Through her natural spoken language, she connects with the communal identity as they both speak german. However, she also reveals her private identity by exposing her as a german who is faking to be Aryan. Since the character has to hide her personal identity, speaking german in public could be dangerous and possibly fatal as it would cause others to be suspicious of his jewish personal identity. Finding this out could lead to her being sent to concentration camps and possibly being murdered.
A political party is two different organizations made up of people with different ideas for how the country should be run. They argue over “who is right”. People join political parties who have similar beliefs ( Doc 1). Jefferson and Hamilton created the first two political parties. Jefferson, the Democratic Republicans, and Hamilton, the Federalists, had very different ideas for the new nation.
Party system refers to the way parties are organized, the balance of powers between and within the parties, and the issues or ideas which the parties are organized around. The Federalist and Jeffersonian Republicans were the first party system to immerge in the seventeen nineties. The federalist focused on the concerns of New England merchants. The wanted to rebuild a relationship with Britain, assumption of debt from the revolutionary war, and programs with encouraged manufacturing. The Jeffersonian republics were run with southern agriculture in mind.

In a highly competitive, controversial race filled with fake smiles and harsh glares, those votes made all the difference in the world to these two men and their running mates. Because George Washington refused a second term, political parties took root when election time came around. No one knew that this election in the early stages of Americas development would define the future of the United States of America.

But Republicans claim that their platform of small government and low taxes is more in line with true Jeffersonian philosophy than that of the big-government Democrats.

In the other hand republicans believe that they should be more independant and have the governor not have take so much role in their lives. To begin with republicans and democrats have many things that are different.
Both the parties are trying to figure out the best way to protect their youth and future of the nation. They do believe that there needs to be improvements to the law. One of the politician party members of the democratic side was quoted saying “and we believe that the law needs to be improved and changed to help improve its chance to help are youth athletes” (USAtoday, 2015). Both parties are trying to help and keep kids safe from harm especially from head injuries. By making the law stricter they believe that this will help improve and keep them safe.
The United States is currently under a two-party system which is the Democrats and the Republicans. Also, the two-party system parties tend to have overlapping coalitions, and programs, both parties must appeal to the Middle of the road voters who provide the margin of victory (Patterson, 2013, p. 197). However, the Democrats and the Republicans are able to win by appealing to the majority of voters during election (Patterson, 2013, p. 198). The goal of each party is to gain the most power to get their candidates voted into office (Patterson, 2013, p. 198). The two-party system also demands that the major parties avoid positions that would allow a considerable amount of distant from the political center (Patterson, 2013, p. 198).
Republicans vs. Democrats When the United States of America was founded, George Washington warned against the formation of political parties. By the time the second election came around there were already two political parties, the Federalist and Democratic-Republicans. These parties eventually turned into the Republican and Democratic parties we have today. While these parties have shifted to become almost polar opposites politically, they still share some common goals.

A two party system is a political system consisting chiefly of two major parties, more or less equal in strength. The two parties are Democrat and Republic, but they started as Federalist and Democratic Republican.
