Mahatma Gandhi was one of the most influential people of India because of his perspective, his ways of living and also because of his accomplishments. Mohandas Karmchand Gandhi was born on October 2 1869 in the small town of Porbandar. As a young boy Gandhi always had interests in the field of law and justice. To further his intrests, his father was the chief minister of the Porbandar estate. Gandhi was the younget of his three sibblings, two brothers and one sister. In Gandhi’s autobiography he says that he developed his life interests based on the stories he read and was told as a young child. He was married at the age of 13 with Kasturba Gandhi. He had every step of the process clear in his mind. Also because of his study in the field of law, he was able to express his solution in the most difficult times. Gandhi believed that the whole rule over India was sustained by the cooperation of the Indians with the British, either out of fear or willingness. He believed that is no one cooperated with the British, soon the rule over India would collapse. Gandhi’s “weapons” were resistance, nonviolence and also noncooperation. Gandhi had convinced many to start the noncooperation movement. Unfortunatley this led to massive protests against the British. As a self defence tactic, the British retaliated and a massacre took place. After the violence Gamdhi took time to focus on having control on his own Indian people before he could achieve greater freedom. He also started the Independence movment in which the whole of India boycotted forein items. Gandhi made sure that everyone in India spun their own cotton to make their own textiles. There was a ban of British made items. All clothes were then made my hand in India to protest. Soon after, he was sent to prison for another six years.
