Learning theories are framework for higher education and how teachers present information to their students and how the students absorbed, processed and retained the information during the learning. John Dewey was a famous theorist who invented the Laboratory School. Burrhus Frederic Skinner was another famous theorist many people believe he is the one the most people will remember. John Dewey was born in 1859 graduated from high school in 1874 and attended many different college he retired from his teaching career in 1927. He opened the “Laboratory school” in 1896. He published his theory of teaching in 1938. John Dewey passed away in 1952. Many people would consider John Dewey to be the most political thinker during the 20th Century he was a philosopher and an educator. John Dewey laboratory school was created and focused around elementary education. The laboratory school was located in Chicago. There are two types of reinforcement there is positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement. Positive Reinforcement is where you are providing a consequence and a reward. An example of this would be if a teacher gives you candy every time you complete your homework you will be more likely to repeat this behavior in the future.
