Art is one of the oldest ways of communication. The oldest pieces of art are cave paintings dating back to 40,000 years ago in Indonesia's Sulawesi Island (”Indonesian cave paintings ‘revolutionized our idea of human art”). The birthplace of art was originally thought to be in Europe; such popular artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Salvador Dali, and Vincent van Gogh came from there. They are some of the most iconic artists known to date.
The Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci was known for perfection of his craft with a painting of the “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper”. Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. He had many jobs and talents, some were sculptures, draftsman and as a painter. He was extremely talented in his knowledge of human bodies. His drawings were the first on human record for organs, bone and muscular structure. Da Vinci is not the only great artist; there are others like Salvador Dali. …show more content…

His dad supported his study of art and he went to an Academy in Madrid to study art. Dali interacted with other artists such as Picasso, Magritte and Miró. In 1941 a Museum in New York called The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art gave Dali his own exhibit. Dali published his autobiography called, “The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí” the very next year in 1942.
