Maya Angelou’s Originality
Many poets have their own unique way of constructing their poems. Maya Angelou an American poet who has a very different writing style that separates her from the others. Maya Angelou is often known for her unique and original style of writing using different literature devices. In addition, she differentiates the sizes in order to demonstrate an idea. Finally, she has been known for stepping out the norm when it comes to errors. Maya Angelou’s creative style includes her use of figurative language, non-specific patterns, and her way of writing in a nontraditional, formal style.

Maya’s poems are simple to read because of the easy vocabulary and the straightforward meaning. In her poems, she speaks as if it is a conversation she’s having with to make the poem seem straight forward. For instance, according to Nathaniel Williams he states, “Her poems rarely adhere to a traditional structure or meter, instead using the rhythm of a sermon or even a conversation” (Maya Angelou writing styles). Additionally, the evidence demonstrates Angelou’s originality and simplicity of writing portrays towards readers as if she is having a conversation with the them. Moreover, she tends not to stress about proper grammar in her poems. If you read a few of her poems you will come across a few grammatical errors, yet they are important in expressing different things. Maya isn’t like the other poets contain perfect grammar, she doesn’t follow that and tends to have run-on sentences to create the sense of pace. For instance, Poem analysis says, “final line of the verse ends with a period and only the first word is capitalized makes the verse read almost as a run-on sentence “Touched by An Angel). The evidence shows Maya’s purpose of sometimes not sticking to perfect grammar. She purposely chooses to have grammatical errors to create a feeling of intensity and suspense.
