Vincent Van Gogh is an artist whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th century. He’s work includes portraits, self portraits, landscapes, and still life of cypresses. In 1881, Van Gogh briefly lived in Etten, where he created a number of drawings of local peasants and laborers performing routine and humble tasks. Initially I can tell this is his work because of his utilization of impasto. Out of the three artists his work appeared the most relaxed, without definite shapes, which I clearly see in this piece.
Light is to life as darkness is to creativity and curiosity. Darkness as described by Bogard is what drives curiosity and reveals all the beauty of the night. Bogard's argument on creativity is elaborated by his use of allusion of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and Paris' reputation as "The City of Light". By referencing Starry Night, a work of art generally considered to be elegant and exquisite, Bogard establishes that a world absent of excess artificial light could hold the key to a beautiful night sky like Starry Night. This urges the readers to learn and understand the disadvantages of our world being engulfed by unnatural, artificial lighting.

When looking at films you have to look at every aspect of the film. When it comes to most people they will watch the film and not notice little details such as framing and editing. Now being an editor my self, this is one issue that bothers me with casual viewership of movies or any other types of film. Thats when they think the editing was just done and that it takes not effort and people think that the clips are just put together. I can safely say that this is 200% false and that being an editor takes a ton of thought and process going into how a clip is placed, how much time before cutting it or anything along those lines.
