Anasazi city Anasazi Tribe Owen Riordan, Period 6 Social Studies The Anasazi were a tribe of ancient people whose civilization existed for more than 1,000 years and was in existence during the time Jesus Christ was alive. Their culture was important to the development of several later tribes from the area of the Four Corners (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona) in the modern United States. This paper will examine how they lived, their scientific investigations, their artwork, and their legacy.
We learned of an event in 1778 where a Hawaiian stole from Captain James Cook’s ship, and was eventually chased by some of Cook’s men back to shore. These men were then beaten by the Native Hawaiians, and it was this event that help contribute to Captain Cooks death. The

Some examples of native mythology stories are: The Navajo Origin Legend, When Grizzlies Walked Upright, and The Earth on Turtle’s Back. Each of these myths have their own details and certain ways on how the creations went, but they all have similar beliefs and customs. The Navajo Origin Legend is about a ceremony that created the first humans by the power of wind. The people believed that the wind was the god because it is what brought us to life and is what keeps us alive since we breathe out air until we pass away.
The history of the Hawaiian Islands began when the first Hawaiians arrived in Hawaii thousands of years ago. They had an advanced society with rules and laws. As a young man Kamehameha was a strong leader. He was a successful warrior and defeated many chiefs in battle, and ultimately became the sole ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. As King he ruled over all the Hawaiian Islands and brought peace to his kingdom.
The Mandan Tribe The Mandan tribe is extremely important to U.S. history. The tribe was highly intelligent in their lifestyle. They are also most famously known for coming in contact with Lewis and Clark.

The Overthrow happened on January 17, 1893 against the Hawaiian Kingdom. With the support of U.S. Minister Stevens, American troops, and the Committee of Safety, Queen Liliuokalani was forced to surrender the throne to the U.S. The Overthrow was caused mainly byunjustified thanks to Minister Stevens, who brought American troops towards Iolani Palace. , Although their action was illegal, and they held the Queen at gunpoint which was immoral. Also, it was unwarranted sincedue to the queen wasbeing against war and bloodshed, andso she really had no choice but to give up her throne if she didn’t want the chaos of physical violence happening.
King Kamehameha was a very important part of Hawaiian history. Kamehameha was the first king to rule all of the Hawaiian Islands. He went through sweat, blood and tears to get where he was. He was just a nephew of Kalaniopu’u which was the ruler of Hawai’i when his journey to greatness began. It all started when Kalaniopu’u was dying and Kiwala’o, his son, was heir to the throne.
Imperialism was a controversial idea that a nation can extend its power outward through means of diplomatic or military force. This often results in a shift of power from one major force currently in control to another. The people of that nation under control conflict may also experience wars, rebellions, or cultural destruction. Looking at some of these events, we see some positives and negatives of imperialistic action taken by the United States, and how it affected the nations imperialized by the United States. For starters, let’s look at Hawaii’s annexation.
Native American Research: Chief Pontiac Intro Chief Pontiac is a Native American that is important to the United States’ history. He was a part of the Ottawa tribe and led the American Indians to a revolution also known as the Pontiac War or Pontiac’s Rebellion, which was against the British when they first came to America. He wasn’t afraid to die for his rights. He believed that they all had rights to live in America and to live how they wanted to live. I chose him for my Native American Research because he was a courageous Native American hero.
One similaritie is that they both have higher and lower social classes and a king. Another similaritie is that they both eat and use maze. One similarite is that the Aztecs and the Mayans both play a ball game with simillar goals like geting the most points or geting the ball into the hoop. The last similarite is that the Mayans and Aztecs both sacrifice people to their gods. One difference is that the Aztecs were more complex than the Mayans.
One of the biggest and most powerful tribes in South Carolina was the Cherokee tribe. The were also known as the “real people”. THe Cherokee tribe was huge. Just one village could have over 600 people in it, and most of their villages were lined with a thing called palisade surrounding it for protection. Their leaders could be made up of men and women, and either gender could own land.

Persepolis is the graphic novel which shows how Marjane grows up under a repressive government in Iran. After the Islamic revolution in 1979, many things were changed by the government such as school curriculums. They closed university to make sure that all books are following the true path of Islam (Satrapi 73). One of the important change, in Persepolis, was the obligation of wearing the veil. The veil is covered women 's skin or hair as a symbol of devotion and modesty for the Islamic religion (Lazreg 10).
Mythical Origins The Iroquois people are one of the earliest cultures in American history, Their culture remains filled with an abundance of myths and legends that explain the nature of life itself. Their creation story, The World On Turtle 's Back, outlines not only the creation of Earth, but also the complex nature of people. The legend states that the Earth resided on the back of a great sea turtle, constituted first by a pregnant woman. The daughter of whom would birth the twins who would become the duality of deceit and order in every living being. This legend has been passed down through the generations, first through oral tradition and later translated to writing.
