Scientists at Wayne State University held an experiment recently using rats to test the reshaping of their brain. In recent studies, scientists have proved that exercise and activity can reshape the brain by adding new brain cells. Being active enables your brain to work and to keep producing more and more cells through the body. After noticing that exercise keeps the brain functioning, many scientists wondered what would happen with a lack of activity, this is where scientists at Wayne State university come into play. These scientists took rats and experimented what would happen to their brains and and brain cells if they had constant activity or low activity. While the rats with equipment to exercise were hitting their target mark of activity, the rats with no …show more content…

The rats that were tested in the experiment with a regular amount of activity had merely no change in the neurons and how the brain looked and functioned. On the other hand, the rats with low to no activity were producing an excessive amount of neurons with branches leading to nothing. This is dangerous because with too many neurons being produced we can overstimulate the sympathetic nervous system. These finding are a very important discovery to us because a lack of activity can have just of a bad effect on our brains as excessive activity can. With a lack of activity, the widening and contracting of blood flow is shortened which causes heart disease because our bodies aren’t producing the regular cellular level we need. I choose this article because I love working out and playing sports. I have never thought to think that an excessive amount of exercise is unhealthy in any way but I was completely wrong. Also, the fact that not having any activity in your day is dangerous because of all the parts in your body that are relying on you to produce enough movement for them to
