It’s always been said to do an occupation that one loves and enjoys going to every single day. I’ve debated the different occupations in the medical field and decided on a physician assistant. A physician assistant requires medical experience, hard work, and lots of dedication. These are all three things I’m willing to do in order to succeed at this job.
I have always felt the need to help people any time I can. Being helpful to others has always felt like an accomplishment. Thinking about that, I have come to the time where I need to pick my occupation. Should I be a physical therapist assistant or a pediatrician is the decision I have to make. But with choosing my occupation, I need to also keep in mind a few things, the pay rate, employment demand, years of schooling, and the job environment.
Later in my life, I would like to study and become a chiropractor. I feel like this is an appropriate career for me. This is suitable for me because, it requires you to talk to your patients. Being able to treat and help patients fascinates me, therefore every step I take will be worth it. Growing up in a Spanish-speaking home made it hard to have guidance on school assignments. I am an only child with two parents who leave at 5 in the morning and return at 7 in the evening, six days a week.
I have always, like my dad, wanted to major in something in the medical field. Another reason why I want to become a nurse practitioner is that I have always had a passion about helping others. With this job I can communicate with the patients in their times of intense physical and mental sufferings. For example, If my patients are scared of getting a surgery, I could educate them that surgery is not always a bad choice. I would explain the procedure of the operation in a way that they could fully comprehend.

I feel that the subjects I have studied have provided me with a good foundation of skills and knowledge that I will use on a daily basis as Occupational therapist. In Biology I learned about the human body on a physical level. I found learning how the body works to be fascinating and I look forward to expanding my knowledge even more with this course.
The motivation, passion, and the internal will to want to succeed in life has always dwelled within me, so ultimately, all I needed was to find what interest me in life. In the beginning, I found myself staring down the road of becoming a teacher or dental hygienist. At first the idea of becoming a teacher seemed like a prominent, and fulfilling job. I get to convey knowledge to groups of young individuals, I also get to work in a setting with other mature adults who share my passion, and I have the opportunity to work with children; but, ultimately, there was just one main component missing for me, and that was the hands-on aspect. I told myself that I wanted to be involved in a career that is very hands-on.
Working in different settings and meeting new people that need to be taken care of has always interested me. The job I want to have while I go to college is the very challenging role of a Medical Assistant. Due to the experiences that have happened in my life, I believe that becoming a medical assistant is the best career choice for me. There are many duties and responsibilities I will have as a medical assistant.
I thought I knew what career path I wanted for my future, with that in mind, I sought a degree in Fitness and Human Performance to continue with a career in Occupational Therapy. In this career choice, the way I got to help patients was through therapy. While taking classes, I realized Occupational Therapy is not what I truly was passionate about. I decided to take my mother’s advice and choose what I truly love to do, which is to help people all around and I believe the nursing program would be the best fit. I am currently completing my certified nurse program to proceed with a job as a patient care technician.
