Depressing thoughts can be very hard to deal with. Especially if you're all by yourself. This is true in Owl City's song "Rainbow Veins." In this song, Adam Young, -the creator of Owl City-, he tells a very detailed story about himself and a friend, and he helps them. In the begining of the song, they seem to be having a great time walking around a city. Fear seems to take over his friend, but he knows what to do immediatley. If that isn't true friendship them I don't know what is. "Cheer up and dry your damp eyes" shows that he cares. Adam didn't even want his friend to be sad for a second because clearly they hadn't been crying that long if their eveys were only damp and not soaked. The anaphora "rainbow above you" has positive connotation. I think it is repeated multiple times to show that Adam's friend hass happiness around them, because they give it away, but they don't have any for themselves. They are too busy trying to make other people happy that they forgot about themselves, which leads to them being sad and scared. The lyrics in the chorus are "I'll blend up that rainbow above you, and shoot it through your veins." I think what Adam means by this is that he will take all the happiness that his friend has given him and send it all right back. With these examples of positive connotation, you can understand how the friend feels and how Adam makes them feel all
