Blood-curling, Agonizing, and Gut-wrenching. These phrases only start to describe the sound that my dog had just emitted. A screech of pure pain and suffering cut through the air and into my unexpecting ears on what I thought would be an average and uneventful Monday. Startled, I ran over to my dog only to find her sprawled on the ground and unable to get up. Her deep chocolaty eyes stared up at me in agony and horror. As I looked down at her, unsure of what to do, my mother burst into the room and took Copper, my dog, into her arms. She then put Copper in my arms and called the vet. Her pained and nervous voice emphasized the urgency of our situation and luckily they could see Copper right away. Initially, we both were doleful about our loss, Anne Bradstreet writes that her,”...sorrowing eyes aside did cast…”(Bradstreet). This shows that she is mournful over the loss of her house just as I was blue over the death of my dog. We both also grew jovial over our losses after reflecting on them. Anne Bradstreet’s loss of her house helped her to realize that her house on Earth was not the house that mattered to her. She believed that the house she wanted was in heaven with God. Bradstreet reveals this by stating that she,”...hast a house on high erect Fram’d by that mighty Architect, with glory richly furnished…” (Bradstreet). This shows that she has not only accepted her loss, but she has also come to realize that her earthly home is no match for the house she may have with God. Anne Bradstreet is made joyful because of her realization. I too grew happy after I grieved because I was able to celebrate the time I spent with my dog and cherish the memories.
