For Freedom Freedom is like nothing else. Freedom is a very delicate idea. In the late 1800s freedom was highly sought after. For a slave like Amari, taken from her village in Ghana and made to work as a slave, freedom was all she could hope for. The book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper illustrates how freedom may not be what people expect and may be taken for granted but is still worth all the work.
Philip Randolph was one of the most influential African American leaders of the twentieth century during his time. He was born on April 15, 1889, in Crescent City, Florida, and spent his early years in during his life in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1907 he was selected as valedictorian from the cook men Institute. “When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in he has no choice but to become an outlaw.” Freedom means different things to different people. For some people, it means you have the freedom to go for a walk without getting the police called on you. For some it may mean practicing the religion they choose, or where they work or live. A historical well-known example of freedom is when Rosa Parks sat in front of the bus she was asked to go to the back she refused to.
Freedom can be defined in many different ways, the dictionary definition, meaning the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint may be how you see freedom. One thing most of the people in the world would agree on is that freedom throughout the world. Both Roosevelt’s “Four Freedoms” speech and Kennedy’s inaugural address discuss upholding freedom in the world. However, Roosevelt’s speech talks about supporting war in the efforts to maintain peace, whereas Kennedy’s speech talks about using more peaceful means like negotiating and coming to an agreement. Roosevelt gave his “Four Freedoms” speech in 1941.
Today, life can be unfair for those people who seek to be free from people who have big power over them. H. L. Mencken wrote “the average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe.” I agree with this quote because of the deeper meaning it has behind it. In today’s society, people do not seem to have ambitions or dreams that they want to pursue. A lot of people settle with a job that pays just enough to make a living or they do not go beyond their limits to get a higher education to be able to make more money.
Freedom is something that should be given and not earned yet many struggle just to preserve their
“The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission,” said John F. Kennedy during his “Buildup of Arms in Cuba” speech. Freedom can mean a lot of things to many different people. To some, freedom is the power to act, speak, or think as one desires. John F. Kennedy expressed freedom as the will of the people.

You can only be free by actually living the life you know you should be living. Happiness and success are two different things. If you link happiness
Freedom, besides the other factors, is a great way of feeling happiness; it is something that everybody needs, that we have to work hard for. Freedom refers to an absence of restrictions and an opportunity to exercise one's rights and powers. Freedom gives the person the full power to do what he what he believes and what he loves without being discriminated , this is what lets a person be happy, when he is encouraged by others for what he is doing, and not disgraced for it, or for his religion ,color or race. For instance, Martin Luther King Jr. ,in his speech “I Have a Dream” he was frustrated from what the African Americans were experiencing, and he wanted everybody to be seen the same despite of his race, religion or color. And he saw that achieving this could give hope to a lot of African Americans to pursue a happier and better

Liberty to me means: I am free from the government’s power and limitations and I have the freedom to become whatever I want to. I have the right to own a weapon, a house, or a car.
