Resource management and sustainability begin with us. It takes a lot to sustain and maintain our resource uses, but if we can somehow promote or contribute to resource sustainability. We, as in the government, local communities, and ourselves, can help future generations be able to benefit from the resources that we have today. Helping this cause is as simple as recycling properly, promoting responsible resource use and management, commit to waste management practices, and etc.

First, the Federal Government, specifically The Mining Association of Canada (MAC). The Mining Association of Canada definitely promotes responsible resource use and management, they even have a part of the association that is dedicated to improving sustainable mining, and it is known as “Towards Sustainable Mining” (TSM). One very important factor about TSM’s promotion of management is that they track and record most of their managements such as Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management, Crisis Management, Biodiversity Conservation Management, and Tailing Management. The Region of Peel provides many services, programs, activities, and events help in some way. The main program that will be looked at is the Waste Management program. The Peel Region’s Waste Management practices are very helpful and effective. The practices are overviewed by setting objectives and goals. The Waste Management program has two effective ways for looking at sustainability. The first is design and deliver waste management services that meet the needs of the customer in a cost-effective manner, and second is to reduce the negative impact of waste. An important asset to the Peel Region Waste Management program is recycling. By recycling properly (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover), the Peel Region can then sell those recyclables to offset their recycling
