There is never a lack of people who want to make a difference in the world however there are very few who have the confidence to take action. Elie Wiesel is a Holocaust survivor he suffered because people didn't care to take action; they were indifferent to his plight. Wiesel now stands before the nation that saved him and his message is stop indifference. Being grateful for life is what makes us human, however as Wiesel describes there are times where people choose to be emotionless. Wiesel resents indifference because it isolates one from the world and leaves others helpless.

Everyone has heard of Adolf Hitler and how he tried to conquer Europe. He attempted doing it at the right time when everyone thought that Germany was going to lose everything, because, the national debt and inflation was so high. Germany was so desperate for anyone to help them that Adolf Hitler saw a chance to step up and be in charge of everything. Hitler was very good at acting like he really cared about his people. He claimed to the German people that he would help with unemployment, help businesses, success to the failed businesses, and to expand their army to make them more powerful.

Glaser effectively uses ethos, repetition, and tone to convey this message to the audience. Elizabeth Glaser, the woman who brought awareness of AIDS, takes a stance based on her own experience with AIDS. Abraham Lincoln in the speech, The Gettysburg Address, constructs a point of achieving a "just and lasting peace" between the North and South without retribution. Lincoln supports his assertion by justifying his beliefs of unity between the states. Lincoln's purpose is to influence the people to not allow what has been done to go to waste. He wants his audience to realize that this division will only persist if no one settles the current issues in society. Lincoln speaks in a sympathizing, determined tone to address the Americans who are mourning the loss of their loved ones and to the rest of Americans who he wants to see a change from.
How I think Severn Suzuki used her ethos in the speech was mediocre. And her authority was not very effective to make the audience feel to trust her. To me she should have not have changed the subject frequently .But her personal connection was on spot. She made the audience have to feel like they care for the future of there family.
