Captain Pratts's Speech promoting Native American Boarding schools is wrong. Captain Pratt is brainwashing them and making Indians forget their own culture. "Kill the Indian in him, and save the man. " This quote shows how Captail Pratt doesn't allow Indian culture and wants to get rid of it.
Oh, The Irony Benjamin Franklin takes on an ironic tone in his essay, Remarks Concerning Savages of North America. He has a way of stating his thoughts using a rhetorical manner. He uses the word “savages” in a way that could apply not only to natives but settlers too. He compares natives and white settlers throughout his writing to show that natives aren’t savages, but their way of living is different from what settlers are normally accustomed.
After reading Native Americans and the “Middle Ground,” I realized how narratives of historians are quick to shame and blame Native Americans in history. This article begins by revealing how European settlement presented the Indians as obstacles. Recent historians, such as Gary Nash, show the Native Americans as being conquered by the Europeans. Author of The Middle Ground, Richard White, seems to be one of the first to examine the culture of Native Americans and the relationship between colonists. White writes about the “middle ground” of the politics and trade that is eventually established.
Northeast Native Americans Communication The Native Americans of the Northeast’s communication is Iroquoian and Algonquian. The Cayuga, Oneida, Erie, Seneca, Onondaga, and Tuscarora spoke the Iroquoian language. The Algonquian language is going extinct, there for they are learning different languages to speak with other tribes. The Northeast language is endangered because they wanted to speak different languages to speak with different tribes. In the speech “Kill the Indian, and Save the Man”, Captain Richard Pratt claims that the savagery of the Indians poses a problem to the advancement of the American society. He argues that their surroundings including language, superstition, and lifestyle cause this problem. TO support his claim, he provides the example of an Indian and White infant. He states that raising them in opposite environments will result in the acquisition of their respective qualities. Pratt proposes the solution of sending Indians to boarding schools, so they can gradually become civilized.

I believe that, that quote represents how well, how determined he was. To want to help kids, who couldn’t care less, and are happy to be dumb, I think that shows what he is truly made of. In the article it states, “Then there are the sullen and already defeated Indian kids who sit in the back rows and ignore me with theatrical precision,” I think that helps show how they were already just willing to give up. However, Sherman wouldn’t allow them to do that. He did not want them to give up on themselves and live up to what the expectations of Indian kids were.
From colonial times until the end of the Indian Wars in 1890, the people in America went through a series of unfair and unfortunate events. Mainly for the Indians which are also called the first peoples. These events could have been handled with much more consideration for the Indians. There are many times when the Americans went too far including the Removal Act of 1830, the Reservation System, and the Act for the Government and Protection of Indians.
I was very displeased by the information I learned this week. Native Americans, being the true residents of America, have been treated terribly throughout history. From the enslaving of innocent Native American tribes to receiving low value land, American Indians have not received respect or compassion. The pretentious white men who took over when “discovering” America completely destroyed many Native cultures and beliefs due to selfishness and ignorance.

That ship, skippered by Christopher Columbus, altered the course of both Native American and European history. 1492 sparked the fire of cultural diffusion in the New World which profoundly impacted the Native American peoples and the European settlers. Prior to European contact, Native Americans lived as hunter-gatherers, living and traveling in groups of typically less than 300 people. These Native Americans spoke over 400 languages and practiced a myriad of different religions (The American Pageant).
Within “Language and Literature from a Pueblo Indian Perspective,” Leslie Marmon Silko invites the audience to perceive language from another cultural perspective, a perspective that is quite dissimilar in respect to white American culture. Clearly, Silko has a multitude of tricks up her sleeve, for the utilization of innumerable and purposeful rhetorical strategies is evident within the text. Her rhetorical strategies not only assist the audience in understanding the significance of storytelling in the Pueblo culture, but they also draw a stark contrast between how white American culture views the theory of language and how the Pueblo citizenry view it. Silko renders her audience with a glimpse into another way of viewing language and literature,
There are very few people that know the importance of history. History is series of past events that involves something or someone. In this case history involves the The Native American Narratives, The Coyote Finishes his work, The Sky Tree, The Blackfeet Genesis, which involves the Huron, Blackfeet, and Nez Perce tribe. There are many similarities and differences between their history which has been passed down orally and in folktales stories such as the characters’ role, the biblical relation, and the animals.

The Native Americans who survived contact with the white people who landed in Plymouth Rock and other east coast locales were usually removed from their ancestral homes; usually far away from their homes (Schiffer, 2004).
