Evelyn Hale Professor Stephens English 102 February 7, 2023 Rhetorical Analysis of Scene from Falcon and the Winter Solider Released in 2021 by Marvel, Falcon and the Winter Solider is a television show that follows the actions of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as they try to take on the threat of the Flag Smasher along with dealing with the repercussions of “the blip”. “The blip” refers to an event in which half of the population vanished for five years at the hands of Thanos, a villain in the story. During the blip, people could reside where they desired, regardless of citizenship, but when the blip ended, the plan was to send residents back to their home countries. He gained a lot of skills that he used as the Falcon from his time in the air force. His speech that he gave was directed at the senators. He is trying to persuade the senators to change their opinion on relocating people. He gave this speech right after the leader of the Flag Smashers was murdered. The speech was given in the street in front of the senators and some news vans. The speech was provoked though the injustices of current events and attitudes towards colored people. He is telling them that he does not care what they think of him, and he wants them to know that he will continue to save people even if they do not approve of him being the new Caption America because of his color. He wants everybody to feel guilty for the way that they treat colored people. Even though the speech was targeted at the fictional characters in the show, the speech also has a meaning in the real world. In today’s world individuals and groups are still treated differently based on their color. Sam uses pathos to inspire both the people in the real world and the fictional world to treat all types of people
