On July 12th, 2005 Steve Jobs' wrote a speech called the commencement speech, where Steve relied primarily on appealing to emotions and being a credible speaker as well as included personal anecdotes to effectively convey the message that the graduates should make use of their limited time. Jobs believes that it is important to find an occupation that fulfills your wants and needs, as well as being happy with it. In all, it is imperative that you “love” the job you have, and without satisfaction with that job it may cause unhappiness and make the graduates unmotivated, which in the long run can affect overall mental health. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of my money my parents had saved their entire life.¨ Using these details appeals to the audience’s emotions because Jobs is using his challenges to connect with the audience emotionally, and to cause the audience to feel empathy, however Jobs also uses this quote to connect with others who are going through similar challenges, which implies that he is aware of the many personal and financial challenges related to college. Jobs began by saying, “I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation.” In this quote he is using ethos to allow the audience to question his credibility and trustworthiness by revealing to them that he did not graduate from college himself, this creates trust between the audience and the speaker as it shows transparency and honesty, however, this does not take away from his credibility as as he is already credible enough, being the establisher of a word famous tech company and
