Melissa Fleming, head of communications for the United Nations commissioner for refugees, speaks about the Syrian refugees fleeing to Europe and the conditions they faced while leaving the country. Fleming’s purpose is to inform everyone of how rough one’s life in Syria has become. She also wants everyone to know what they go through to survive and get to a better country. These refugees are faced with many hardships along the way, some not even making it to safety. Fleming’s audience is of people all over the world, not any one country in particular. The young boy spent his life savings to get them a spot on this boat. Soon the boat is hit by a smaller box, which leaves their boat to sink. Hundreds of people had drowned but a small portion had found things to hold onto and float. The two young Syrians found a life raft to sit in and float around on, after days of floating the two had found themselves helping other people out by taking their children and holding onto them. They watched as many people around them let go of their floatation devices and drowned. Soon the young Syrian boy told his love that he is sorry for putting her in this situation and that he could not make it any longer and lets go of his life raft. Fleming shows a drawing of the young girl slumped over holding on to two kids while sitting in the raft. At one point the young girl had to let go of a child because his heart stopped, while talking about this Fleming’s eyes looked so sad and hurt. She really draws the audience in with the sadness she expresses. After much sadness and hurt comes a much-anticipated happiness. Fleming’s eyes now show hope as a large boat is coming near the young girl and the child she is holding. You can hear a change of tone in her voice as she describes the young girl waving her arms to get the attention of the people on the boat. The boat comes towards her and rescues her and the child,
