With the views of the religious peoples during Elizabeth’s reign leaning towards negativity about a woman ruler, Elizabeth I responded to these challenges against her ability to rule wisely with sophisticated anger and strong leadership, while not responding to the challenges to her authority as a religious leader. According to " The Case Against High-School Sports" (2013), sports could create some study, health, and time management problems for schools and students. In this post, Amanda Ripley initially shows the benefits when involving in the high-school sports: exercise, sportsmanship lessons, some positive personalities, more fun and staying away from vices. She also writes some tales to inform readers that in the US, students are interested and enjoy in sports more than other peers in other countries. However, she claims that the high-school sports have negative effects on schools and students. Next, she gave some schools ' examples to show the problems when schools and students spent too much time and money in high-school sports.
The Director of the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports,Daniel Gould in his Article, “Are High School Sports Good For Kids” suggests that high school sports are an integral part of American society. He supports this claim by first saying how sports have educational benefits, then talking about their effect on the child as a citizen, and finally claiming that sports give adolescents increased aspirations. Goulds purpose is to illustrate the benefits of children taking part in school sports. He adopts a analytical tone an older audience.
When people talk about slavery they more or less tend to label the good ones who were against slavery into the North and then the monsters as being the Southerners. Stowe showed the readers that this isn’t true, and that you can’t just point and blame that easily. Through Tom’s owners, Mr. Shelby and St. Clare, Stowe showed us the reality of kindness that some Southern slave owners possessed. Both of these slave owners believed it wrong to harm their slaves and to treat them with any type of cruelty. St. Clare tended to share his opinions on slavery, and Stowe used this character to show how many Southerners thought slavery to be an act of iniquity, but were too stubborn to try and change the ways of their society.
Pollitt knows better. A string of statements to support it follows every accusation she makes. She writes, “Should college students play sports? Sure for fun.” (Pollitt 5).
In this community lately, there has been discussion lately on sports possibly being removed from the high schools. Although, they get the most recognition that does not mean that just because one little thing it gets removed and completely forgotten about. In fact, so many people do high school sports in the text “Are High School Sports Good For Kids” it explicitly states “Here in Michigan almost 300,000 young people take part in high school sports every year.” This scene particularly shows that many youth athletes participate in high school sports in only one state alone.
When reading about Bowenian Family Theory, it was different in the sense of what I was used to reading about psychodynamics or behavioral theories. Being able to see members of a family or a person as being the main focus and having universal traits in them rather than being born or developing a specific illness is an interesting perspective because it establishes that anyone can be predisposed to it but those that do have that disorder have it because they have elevated levels of that specific trait. The idea of a family or couple being part of an emotional triangle was also an enlightening because when reading about it, I felt that it did hold true especially with members of a family experiencing anxiety or stress. This concept was appealing because it laid out a framework to describe who the people involved in the conflict are and what is causing the differentiation among them.

My thesis statement is that: Barbara Attard Haworth, projects a negative point of view on the topic of abuse in her novel Theories of Relativity. 1) “If you came here looking for a father you wouldn’t find one.” – This quote is connected to the thesis statement because as my thesis statement, it is very negative and is very abusive of Dylan’s father to abandon him and to also say that to him. The research is connected to my thesis statement because it shows 13% percent of parents do not pay child support and abandon their children simply on the claim that, “They did not want their child.”
Daystar by Rita Dove is a freestyle poem that effectively uses symbolism, imagery and tone to tell the story of a woman that is searching for a place she can call her own, for just a few minutes, while she escapes from the overwhelming pressures of her everyday life. Throughout the poem she remains nameless; she has lost her identity and she longs for the days before she became someone’s wife and mother. In the first stanza of Daystar, Dove begins the poem by showing us how exhausted, not only physically but mentally, the woman is. “She wanted a little room for thinking, but she saw diaper steaming on the line.”
This notion is supported by Dr. Daniel Gould, who believes that “Children who participate in sports have increased educational aspirations, closer ties to school and increased occupational aspirations in youth” (1). People against the funding of high school sports think that parents and society are placing more emphasis than ever before and, “[P]ressures athletic personnel to deviate on winning from the athlete- centered educational and personal development mission” (Gould 1). However, athletes strive to do better in class. Michael Lorenc, a high school basketball coach believes that “those who seem to have an overwhelming schedule where they’re playing maybe multiple sports, and high academic schedules, they tend to do better than those who don’t do anything extracurricularly” (Gray). Balancing sports and school makes athletes put more effort into keeping up grades while playing the sport they love.
For many years has football has been considered the utmost dangerous sport in high school, but recently many new studies have been made to prove the exact opposite. High school football gives money to the school and improves the school. In high school sports when a team wins the championship the school gets money that can be used towards hiring new teachers, providing scholarships for students, buying new books, and overall improving the school itself. When a high school football team wins the championship the team's school gets $400,000 that can be spent on the school in many different forms.
If you have ever been in sports or school athletics, act fast! Schools are getting rid of their sports and we need to stop it. “Being a student is harder than ever. You are being held to tougher academic standards-and so is your school.
Both mr Cater and Coakley agrees that its more important to create a student athlete than it I to create an athlete. Some of the problem Coakley touched on was that academic administrators sometimes focus more on athletic accomplishments than on education.
Sports can enhance the cooperative and strategic strategies. The passage states that, “understanding the competitive process entails an appreciation of the social nature of competition, particularly with regard to the cooperative and strategic aspects of sports and an awareness of the nature of individual roles within a cooperating group.” The last reason, which it the academic benefits, proves that you shouldn’t take away the sports for school. The kids that play sports benefit in the classroom a lot more than regular students.
