Large farms, processing facilities, and factories are used by the industry with a variety of levels of security. There are often sanitation processes, good manufacturing processes, and hazard identification and control systems in place at processing facilities and factories. Even with these systems and processes in place, the overall facility or a single batch remain vulnerable. The highest risk comes from the employees either intentionally or unintentionally contaminating a batch of food. Testing is supposed to ensure the food is within specific allowances for contaminates, but the laboratory confirmation takes time that perishable items may not have to wait.

TO: Dr. Jim Turner FROM: Tyler Mead DATE: October 20, 2015 SUBJECT: New England Seafood Company Risk Analysis Overview: Accompanying this memo is a risk analysis I have conducted for New England Seafood Company. The risk analysis I have conducted will show which weighted average cost of capital would be best to use in evaluating the project along with how New England Seafood Company could utilize the land if the project is accepted. A 10% cost of capital will result in a positive net present value but the coefficient of variation will be much higher than New England’s average coefficient of variation. A lower or higher cost of capital could under or over value the project and risks involved.

Mark Haddon’s novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time outlines the struggles individuals with developmental disorders face that can be deemed a societal norm ( i.e. understanding social cues and using figurative language ). Unplanned routines or sudden changes in events can have an impact on the way the individual views the world around them—the novel stars 15-year-old Christopher, who has autism. Mark Haddon hints at this throughout the novel with key techniques like repetition, symbolism and metaphor. Christopher’s way of understanding the world is immediately brought to the reader in the first few chapters of the novel.
Ehrenreich mentions “The regulation poster in the single unisex rest room admonishes us to wash our hands thoroughly,” in her essay; However, there is almost no one following the instruction because “there is always some vital substance missing—soap, paper towels, toilet paper”. Although workers may want to follow the instructions, it is impossible for them to do so because they “never found all three at once ”. The effect of describing the deficient rest room is to highlight the fact that the owner of the restaurant is so stingy to the workers that the owner refuses to provide enough substance. Thus, the readers can better understand the terrible environment that the workers live in. In short, with mention the dreadful environment of the kitchen and the rest room, the audiences are able to know that lower workers work in a grubby environment and how they have been treated by the upper class.
Today you can travel to almost every part of the world and find sushi prepared in many different ways. The first sushi restaurants outside Japan developed along diasporic lines, as Japanese immigrants in the early twentieth century settled in places such as Los Angeles, Hawaii, and Sao Paulo (Sakamoto and Allen, 2011). In the 1970s, however, non-Japanese Americans began eating sushi, first on the West Coast and then in other parts of the country (Sakamoto and Allen, 2011). The type of diffusion that is represented here is relocation diffusion. In the process of coming from overseas sushi slowly went away from the traditional Japanese sushi to more of a modern style.
