The Martian Chronicles written by Ray Bradbury shows many relations to the United States during the published time in the 1960’s. The parallels in the story are identified as duplicates to the United States and in Bradbury’s opinion were faulty of our country. In addition, Bradbury indirectly states that the Earthlings faced many consequences because they were selfish and overpowered by nationalism. Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles highlights many of America’s misinterpreted moments and reminds us that we should control and evoke condescending and inconsiderate behaviors before leading to extreme consequences.

Numerous examples of the consequences to the Earthlings are revealed throughout The Martian Chronicles in Bradbury’s parallels to our history. One of the most discussed effects on the Earthlings was in the short story “-and the Moon Be Still as Bright”. To begin, the Earth Men have discovered that an earthborn disease, the chicken pox, has killed most of the Martians. Corresponding, Bradbury links “The Third Expedition” to the discovery of the “New World” when the European diseases killed off the majority of the Native Americans. Furthermore, the consequence was that the Martians wanted revenge and ended up killing the Earthlings on the expedition. Considering this, the author is making an illusion that if we were to be making the same mistakes, such as the Cold War, that we were in the sixties the government and society would be gone leading to an imbalance of lifestyle and culture.
