Margaret Lazarus’ essay All’s Not well in Land of the Lion King details her opinion in the classic Disney movie. She states how she believes the movie is racist, sexist, and anti-gay. While it’s not difficult to see where she’s coming from, most of her points are far-fetched at best. Another major point Lazarus tried to make clear in her essay is that The Lion King is sexist. Her main concern was that the obviously very strong lionesses were not able to fight back against Scar and the hyenas.

I believe that Riel is a hero because he stood up for the rights of the Metis to the Canadian government during the Red River Settlement and the Northwest Rebellion. The article was about a school called Lionheart School in Alpharetta. Lionheart School is a place for children with autism and special needs. For some kids with autism they sometimes have trouble talking with strangers or doing physical activities. Paws for people is a foundation that puts service dogs in the schools with people who need them. The students would teach the puppies about the outside world.

Medieval literature shows the change of heroes throughout centuries. For the English medieval times, two story’s heroes stand out: Le Morte d'Arthur’s Lancelot and Beowulf’s Beowulf. Lancelot, the patient, humble, and chivalrous knight, is contrasted by Beowulf, a boastful, proud, and rowdy viking. It clearly shows how stories have changed in their depiction of protagonists. Both Beowulf and Lancelot are great warriors and leaders but that is where their similarities end.
During Richard the Lionheart’s reign as King of England(1189-1199) and in the Third Crusade(1189-1191) he was an unheroic figure and on occasion his actions tended to be iniquitous. The legacy which he left behind is not deserving of the statue erected of him in front of the Houses of Parliament in 1860. His unheroic actions were manifested in his deplorable decisions as King of England leaving the country in a devastated economic state. Furthermore, Richard the Lionheart expressed his evil and immoral character through his incompetent choices he made as a commander. In addition he failed to fulfill his promise and failed to complete the campaign of capturing the holy land of Jerusalem.
I chose to create the coat of arms of Richard III, Duke of Gloucester, and King of England for my creative midterm. As complex as Shakespeare’s characterization of Richard is, I think it is important to remember that Richard III was a real historical figure, and thus much more complex than Shakespeare could portray him as in only five acts. Although Shakespeare’s histories maintained important stories among the English people, it would difficult to classify them as accurate histories today.
