As society continues to develop and makes new plans, technology in today’s world is starting to raise some questions. Patrick Lin, is a philosopher and director of the ethics emerging group at the state University in California. With the help of the university Patrick Lin wrote an essay called The Big Question: in his essay, he talks about the technologies and ideas in which many people seem to overlook today. In hopes of raising awareness about the upcoming industrial revolution of robotics. the changing of the world around us is already underway.
Steve Jobs, the co founder and CEO of Apple inc. once said, “Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have faith in people that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.” In the 1850’s the United States weren’t getting along with the Soviet Union. Because of this United States made the decision to drop atomic bombs. This kind of machinery is introduced in the story,”There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury.
“2.2 million people in the United States depend on a wheelchair for day-to-day tasks and mobility. 6.5 million people use a cane, a walker, or crutches to assist with their mobility”. Every single day, people varying in ages, struggle to live their lives due to conditions out of their control. Whether it be life threatening or not, it can have effects that are both socially and emotionally harming. Although some of them may change appearances on the outside, other people cannot forget that all people, not matter the disability, have brains and personalities of their own that may not be seen to the human eye.
Self-Destructive Behavior Earth is the habitat of several species, yet only one governs, humans. The rapid growth of science and technology has opened many doors to human inventions and innovations. Although this development has changed and impacted human lives positively it has also brought along the way threats to the followings. As a human trait it is mainly known how people become more and more greedy as they learn that enough is not enough anymore therefore, they seek for other and more higher possessions and that is when things become dangerous.
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
This statement from the author represents an informative tone in the functionality of a robot. Another example from the text would be when it states that “real world robotics spend a lot of time grappling with the hypothesis known as the “uncanny valley”, which holds that people are revolted by robots that act like, but not perfectly like humans”. So with this statement, the author is being informative in informing the audience that although robots don’t hundred percent look like humans they are still, however, able to adapt and also presentable acceptable in providing service to the
The field of robotics goes beyond that as it overlaps with electronics, computer science, artificial intelligence, mechatronics, nanotechnology and bioengineering. The world of robotics automation is growing with robotics and technology being some of the fastest growing industries in the world--accounting for trillions of dollars in revenue. Dante Chinni claims that, “Apple, meanwhile, is more valuable than any [other company], and at roughly $900 billion is the most valuable public company in the history of the world.” However, robotics and technology are not only implemented in the workforce but in the education system as well. FIRST--
Isaac Asimov’s Reason, shows us how the field of robotics is still a working-progress, Philip K. Dick’s Second Variety introduces the idea of superior, conscious machines who were created by advanced technology, and Kenneth Chang’s “Can Robots Become Conscious?” shares different views on the advancement of machines and robots. I believe machines and robots are not glorified adding-up machines and I think it is possible that they will become capable of original thought the more we advance in the field of robotics. Similar to the iPhone updates, new technology and new studies could lead to intelligent, conscious machines. Technology has come a long way, with the introduction of the Siri of the iPhone, Window 10 2-in-1 computers, flying military drones, and many more.
Throughout the semester, I have gained a better understanding of adapted physical education and sport programs. These programs provide children and adults with an opportunity to participate in sports they may not have thought were possible. The modifications to sport and exercise allows individuals with a range of disabilities to engage in activity. The disabilities can range from a mild learning disability to a permanent condition caused from a serious accident. While observing numerous individuals with disabilities, I was able to obtain a better understanding of the challenges that came with physical activity.
Many of these tools are coming in the form of robots or machines with robotic parts. The exact prototype of Baymax has not been replicated, but there are multiple types of robots with different abilities that have been integrated into some healthcare settings. Communication is a key component in the progression of healthcare. Technology has taken communication to new levels by introducing aspects of virtual reality to healthcare.
As a professional, one must adhere to the guiding principles defined by the professional association. Scope of Practice outlines the “notions of professional conduct, accountability and self- governance and expanded practice”. Scope of Practice summarizes “the range of roles and activities an individual registrant or licensee is permitted to undertake in the course of professional practice. These roles and activities are largely determined by professional education and practice competence along with factors in the practice context, such as demands on practitioners’ services and available resources” (Fealy 2005). Scope of Practice is based upon the “profession 's unique body of knowledge, supported by educational preparation, a body of evidence, and existing or emerging practice frameworks” (American Physical Therapy Association, 2015).
Physical Therapy Physical Therapists provide rehabilitation for injuries and help maintain stability. “Some history of Physical Therapist formed their first professional association in 1921 called the American Women’s physical therapeutic association. In the late 1940s, the association had changed its name to the American Physical Therapy Association. Physical Therapy was developed when the association’s membership swelled to 8,000 and the number of physical therapy education programs across the US increased from 16 to 39”(“APTA History”). Although many people may think being a physical therapist is hard because of the qualifications needed, the daily work, salary, and needs of the service have drawn my attention to the field.
“If anybody says he can think about quantum physics without getting giddy, that shows he has not understood the first thing about them” this is a famous quote from Niels Bohr. Sometimes we tend to forget how physics is applied to our everyday lives, little do we know we use it every day such as forces and Newton’s Law of Motion. Physical therapy focuses on the recovery of said movement in patients with limited function. Physical therapist use different techniques in physics to make sure their patients are improving. They use techniques such as Newton’s first law of motion, torque, and acceleration.
As technology and robotics progress, people continue to debate how jobs and careers could be affected. Robotic replacement might not have a negative effect , especially since it has helped our development to be able to survive. The process of the robotic development started in the industrial age. The industrial age is known for “a period in which fundamental changes
Physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury, or distortion by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery. The goals are to help joints move better and to restore or increase your flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and balance. This essay will discuss the extent of agreement that physical therapy is vital to be used as non-surgical treatments by people experiencing back and neck pain from time to time. To begin with, taking physical therapy sessions can regain original capabilities. People whom suffered from severe pain every day, tend to lose some of their abilities in handling their daily activities.
