The eighties is widely recognized as one of the most popular decades based on its unique music and style. However, the growth of job growth and industry shifts implemented formidable events taken place at the end of the decade. Significant changes and events took place in 1989 that shaped the future in international politics, culture and technology forming a positive outcome for the world and its relations with different countries. New world leaders, recent discoveries, and raised awareness from past decisions caused a whole new mindset throughout the eighties. The change of genres in music to rock was rapidly spread through the development of digital recording; otherwise known as the cause of the rescue of music industry from its economic crisis. The popularity of rock by the 1980’s “settled back into its own world of clubs, deejays, and recording studios” from famous rock singers such as Bob Marley and The Rolling Stones “and its own crosscurrents from African American, Latin American and gay subcultures” bringing diverse groups put together demonstrating how different backgrounds led to the origin of rock and roll. (Frith 3) Rock was not only the music listened worldwide and lacking a purpose,“ Rock is the music that directly addressed conditions” such as the purpose from the voice of the public “ and kept faith with the belief that music is a form of human conversation and remains the most democratic of social media” (Frith 7) foreshadowing the intentions of Western countries to remain with their current type of government.
