The Supreme Court ruled with a 7-2 vote, that "The Court ruled that the states were forbidden from outlawing or regulating any aspect of abortion performed during the first trimester of pregnancy, could only enact abortion regulations reasonably related to maternal health in the second and third trimesters, and could enact abortion laws protecting the life of the fetus only in the third trimester," as stated by pbs.org)!!(. The case defined that at around 7 months. Nowadays, a fetus can survive at 23 weeks, with the help of medical equipment. This is one of the reasons this case is still so important, the age of when a fetus becomes a fetus. With people's different views in their own religions, this topic is often fought over.
