Max Moore Mrs.Carey Language Arts Per.2 10 April 2024 Rogue Waves And Tsunamis Two big waves, rogue waves and tsunamis, both are very dangerous, and both carry water with lots of force. Tsunamis and rogue waves both do damage in the same way, they can destroy oil rigs, and ships. They may seem the same at first, but they are actually very different. Rogue waves are found deep in the ocean and are made from wind. First, rogue waves are found far out at sea, then they stay in the middle of the ocean. The text says, “A rogue wave is an enormous wave that occurs far out in the ocean.” (Simmons 58) For instance, rogue waves are usually found in the Bermuda Triangle or in the middle of the ocean, but never hit the shore, they stay in the middle of the ocean. …show more content…
The text states, “Rogue waves seem especially likely to occur in places in the ocean where currents collide.” (Simmons 59) In addition, rogue waves are made from wind strength and wind speed. If they are near an island or a part of the land, they can get up to 100 feet tall. In conclusion, rogue waves are found far out in the middle of the sea and wind strength, speed, and currents colliding form these catastrophic waves. Tsunamis are located in the middle of the ocean like rogue waves are, but they are caused by different things. For example, they happen around the Pacific Ocean. According to the text, “Tsunamis are most likely to occur on lands surrounding the Pacific Ocean.” (Sanborn 62) They are found in the Pacific Ocean, and the Ring Of Fire. They are also far out at sea, like rogue waves. They start in the depths of the ocean, then come inwards to land. In addition, they are made on the ocean floor. The text says, “Tsunamis are caused by landslides, volcanoes, or earthquakes that occur on the ocean floor.” (Sanborn 61) Tsunamis are also caused by icebergs falling off, meteorites hitting the ocean surface, and other natural
