Changing The Perception of Feminism

I read in a book recently by G.D Anderson, an esteemed poet and writer, who said: “Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.” (Talk about this quote) then lead into… I stand before you today not as an "oppressed” radical feminist trying to make all of you hate men. Instead as a hopeful young adult trying to make you see the true meaning and purpose of feminism - to help everyone achieve equality.

Before I tell you why the perception of the word feminism is wrong, let's go over the basics. The word feminism means an excuse for lacking women and men who are unable to fit into society as normal beings and think they are entitled to special rights and treatment. Right? Wrong. Feminists need your help to make it right again. We need your support to be able to clean up the messy image that the media has created out of the word feminist. We want to fight for men’s rights too. We want equal opportunity for fathers to be able to gain legal and physical custody. Across a wide range of jurisdictions the estimates are that mothers receive primary custody 68-88% of the time, fathers receive primary custody 8-14%, and equal residential custody is awarded in only 2-6% of the cases. We want to make paternal custody as widely accepted and practiced as maternal custody. Feminists have always been advocating for men’s rights as well as women’s rights. It’s just that people have been too busy focusing on the idiotic deeds of some radical feminists - affectionately nicknamed the “femi-Nazis” to be able to see the changes we are trying to make for BOTH
