Plays were often written to honor Dionysus (many of the stories about or involving the power of the gods in comedy or tragedy), art works were inspired by the power of the gods, and many temples were built to honor the gods. People would have shrines to their favorite gods, and they would offer sacrifices to ask for good fortune or health.
