“May the odds be ever in your favor.” This is a famous quote from the Hunger Games series. The Hunger Games, a battling ground, is best known for two characters falling in love trying to save each other. Romeo and Juliet can be compared to the Hunger Games in many ways. Romeo and Juliet is very similar yet different to the Hunger Games by their ways of living, round characters, and dynamic characters.
Romeo and Juliet and the Hunger Games are similar yet different through their ways of living. First, they live in two totally different places. Romeo and Juliet took place in Verona, Italy while the Hunger Games took place in twelve districts and the Capitol. In Verona, Italy you can find upscale citizens along with very poor citizens. For example, Romeo and Juliet both live in two very upscale houses. “Two households, both alike in dignity.” However in the Hunger Games they also have upscale citizens in the capitol and poor people all throughout the twelve districts.

Dynamic characters really change throughout the story and become different in the end than in the beginning. “Peeta Mellark, the baker’s son,” is quite a dynamic character. He starts out a timid and scared, a little face in the crowd. Of course though as the story goes on, he becomes more confident and courageous. “I keep wishing I could think of a way to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games.” On the other hand, Juliet also starts out very nervous and fearful. Once Juliet meets Romeo, she more or less lets loose and does her own thing and becomes her own person. “If that thy bent of love honorable, thy purpose of marriage, send me word tomorrow.” Now that she is going to marry Romeo, Juliet changes into a very strong woman with good intentions.
