Romeo and Juliet’s death were complicated, and no one was particularly at fault. Instead everyone included in the play wrote by William Shakespeare had some blame and took part in the tragic events. The characters in this paper that will be taking the blame are Lady Capulet, Juliet’s mother, Fate, and Romeo. Lady Capulet’s forceful behavior drove Juliet to her breaking point. Fate overall ruled everything that happened and would simply not allow the two lovers together. Romeo was reckless and did not love Juliet enough to save her. Lady Capulet had never truly been a mother to Juliet, their relationship was formal and respected, not kind and gentle. Lady Capulet thought she knew what was best for Juliet, she did not however care if Juliet was happy. She insisted Juliet to marry Paris “The valiant Paris seeks you for his love”(DBQ: Project, 2013), a man Juliet did not love. While Juliet was madly in love with a Montague named Romeo. The strained relationship between Juliet and her mother caused Juliet to feel trapped. Romeo knew he could not have Juliet’s heart because of a “greater power than we can contradict”(DBQ: Project, 2013). The treacherous fate did not stop the strong feelings between Romeo and Juliet, however fate did win the battle of love. Romeo and Juliet’s love were destined to crumble. Everything terrible that happened to them was for a reason, fate caused Romeo to fall in love with his families greatest enemy. Fate also caused Romeo to find Juliet after she had drunk the sleeping potion and his confusion and mortification with her “death”.
