Immaturity can spread throughout things and people creating problems for the present and future. Similarly, Romeo and Juliet not only shows the development of love, but the development of immaturity that leads to the story being tragic. Often humans develop to become mature, but the totalness of immaturity in this story, makes the process go backwards. From Romeo and Juliet’s fast evolving relationship to the hate between the two family’s, the ignorance of thought in different characters is portrayed well in the story. Therefore, the theme of this sad story is to think more diligently and reasonably before taking action, and overall grow from the past. Analyzing this quote, the phrasing of young men’s here, determines the level of trust of the young men. Because Friar is talking about Romeo, and the quote is of negative connotation, the connection concludes that Romeo is not trustable, thus shows a part of his immaturity. To add on, Romeo who had just slain Tybalt runs to Friar Lawrence who comments, “ Hold thy desperate hand: Art thou a man? thy form cries out thou art: Thy tears are womanish; thy wild acts denote The unreasonable fury of a beast: Unseemly woman in a seeming man! Or ill-beseeming beast in seeming both!” (3.3) Friar Lawrence yet again points out to Romeo’s childish side when he was about to attempt to kill himself. Analyzing the situation, crying after doing something terrible is an addition to immaturity, and as Friar states in the following context, he should act more civilized, as worse things could have possibly happened.
