What does it take for two “star-crossed” lovers to realize that their plans for love will not work out? In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, one does not really know. The choices that Romeo and Juliet make in William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet refute that they are “star-crossed” lovers. Although mentioned several times in the play, fate has nothing to do with the death of the two doomed lovers. The choices that they make ultimately lead to their destruction. Not one person or thing can be blamed for their tragedy besides the lovers themselves Romeo and Juliet doomed their love through the choice to rush into their love. Their first meeting, which involved much intimacy, created a detrimental passion to immediately let their love move to the step of marriage. This is the ultimate proclamation of love and should be carefully considered before resolution. However, the paramours resolved the question of marriage with one fowl swoop. They decide to be married the next day. Their young love may be admired by some, but it is a rash act that ended in many complications. The hype of their love also caused them to be blind to reality and the reality of the situation was more complicated than they were willing to accept. Juliet was to be married to Paris with her Father’s approval and Romeo was just crushed by the rejection of his love, Rosaline.
