Juliet's parents forced her to marry Paris, which led her to take the risky decision of faking her own death. The parents don't have any support for juliet. If they would just have not let her marry Paris then many things would have been changed. The parents are so stubborn and full of hatred. The tragedy/love story of Romeo and Juliet has the underlying theme of family, one of the main ones being the relationship between the children and their parents. In this story the parents love for their children seems to be second to the hatred in their feud, at least until the end of the story. Juliet’s mother has a relatively close bond to Juliet because she is very young and Juliet is an only child so all attention goes to her, however the nurse has the closest bond to Juliet seeing as she nursed Juliet and was around her her whole life. Romeo is not particularly close to his parents, and doesn’t tell them about his unrequited love for Rosaline when Benvolio asks why Romeo is upset, Lord Montague replies “I neither know it nor can learn of him”. This implies that Lord Montague is very passive and doesn’t really make the effort to find out what is wrong with Romeo, although his parents do show genuine affection and concern for him. Romeo prefers to confide in the Friar, rather than his parents, so maybe Shakespeare is indicating to us that wealthy parents may have had a distant relationship with their children, which can potentially prove damaging. Lawrence said “When I read Shakespeare I am struck with wonder that such trivial people should muse and thunder in such lovely language.” Lawrence noticed that even though Shakespeare's topics may not be relevant now, they are worth reading because they are amazing pieces of literature. Romeo and Juliet is a very important and influential piece of literature that should be taught in schools. Romeo and Juliet has some language throughout the play that most middle schoolers would not comprehend. Without reading Shakespeare most children would not have the opportunity or inspiration to learn what these words mean.
Romeo and Juliet Essay One of the reason’s why I like Romeo and Juliet is that there is a lot of fighting with a mix between romance. Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is a play about the son and daughter of two feuding families falling in love. Although the Romeo and Juliet play a huge part in the story, the parents play almost just as big of a part. They are important because Juliet's parents tell Juliet who she has to marry, the families hate each other, and Juliet's mom doesn't have a strong relationship with her daughter.
