Romeo's decision to kill himself was most heavily influenced by his great love for Juliet, accordingly this is for the definite reason of him thinking that Juliet had ever so tragically died and he thought that if he did not die with her than "Death" would take her from him. "That unsubstantial Death is amorous"(5.3.104). This particular quote exemplifies the fact that Romeo believed "Death" was going to take Juliet from Romeo and he had decided to take his life in order to save Juliet from "Death" becoming his 'girlfriend' or just taking her from him. The poison was drunk by Romeo in order to save Juliet from the physical being "Death". Another reason that love was the heaviest influence for Romeo to kill himself is for the reason that he could not live with himself if Juliet was gone as well as that he just loved her so much. "The dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Here’s to my love!"(5.3.119-120) This quote really emphasizes the fact that Romeo killed himself for the certain reason of him not being able to live without Juliet, the quote proves the fact that Romeo had drunk the poison for Juliet by using a metaphor which means that the drinking of the poison was for his love or Juliet. This is because of the sheer hate that both Montagues and Capulets had for each other along with the hate caused him to kill himself for the reason of Juliet being a Capulet and that he cannot be with her because of the hate between the two sides. However, this is not as strong as an argument as saying that love was more powerful, if Juliet had not been a Capulet and Romeo a Montague, then Romeo would have most likely not killed himself for the love of Juliet. Hate was absolutely not as strong as a reason for Romeo to kill himself for the specific reason of the Montagues and Capulets having such sheer hate for one
