With cap cuts coming, are the Steelers scouting a new middle linebacker at the combine? As I wrote in one of our past prospect watches, the Steelers could draft a middle linebacker in the mid-round of this year’s draft. Lawrence Timmons is owed over $15 million and his production has slipped over the past few seasons. One of the most decorated middle linebackers in this draft is Scooby Wright out of Arizona.
Imagine a being in line to vote for non-slavery in the newly established state, Kansas, right before the voting house became overfilled with southern voters voting on slavery. The Kansas-Nebraska act allowed the people of the Kansas and the Nebraska Territories to vote on whether the state is a non-slave or a slave state. The Kansas Nebraska act should have never happened because it overturned the Missouri compromise, violence broke out in kansas, and southern voters illegally voted in the kansas voting. One of the main reason why the Kansas-Nebraska act should have never happened is because it overturned the Missouri Compromise which was made official in 1820. For example, “To win southern support, Douglas proposed that slavery in the new
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
Some students tend to forget their teachers when they are done with school. Melissa Hoebee, a teacher who currently teaches in Southern Middle School, shares about her life in teaching and life experiences from her childhood to today. She chose to be a teacher because she wanted to help people learn in school. These life experiences and events before in her childhood helped her become the teacher she is today. Arizona is a senior in high school, in the cold tundra of Montana. Her name is Arizona because the winter she was born, was the coldest winter on record for Montana, and her parents must have wished for warmer weather. Arizona’s life is not, nor has been, glorious. She started working on her family’s cattle ranch when she was five. Her family doesn’t use ATV’s or Rangers to check fence and cows, no, they use horses.
Skateboarding, Baseball, Red Hot Chili Peppers: these are just a few things Los Angeles has become known for. But just one year after the city of St. Louis was left without an NFL team, San Diego has also fallen into a near identical situation. On January 12th, 2017, the Chargers’ ownership group announced the relocation of the team to Los Angeles. This has given " The City of Angels" their second NFL franchise in as many years. This move has also come as a shock to many NFL fans, myself included.
While General Washington gets support from congress, the army needs it. Many soldiers lye sick and die, others have their dead or infected limbs severed. This is Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778. Valley Forge was 18 miles out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Some soldiers are overconfident in the war and some are underconfident.
After the Spanish made some fortunate discoveries in South America, the English were determined to strike gold in the north, however, they would soon find out that this “new country” was not so perfect. In the Spring of 1607, about 100 colonists sailed to North America and created an English settlement called Jamestown (Roden 49). Upon their arrival, they discovered that Jamestown was home to some 1500 Powhatan Indians, and, because the colonists didn’t bring the right people to defend themselves from Indian attacks, many people died (Roden 49). The colonist also didn’t bring enough people to ward off disease, drought, or famine.
With human advancement, technology has taken on a life of its own. The current American society’s reliance on digital support has caused it to forget the importance of its humanity. The novelist, Wallace Stegner, wrote in a letter to argue for the preservation of the wilderness in order to help restore the spirituality and historical values of America, which he sent to David E. Pesonen, a research assistant for the Wildland Research Center at the University of California. His claim relays that the remaining wilderness needs to be preserved as much as possible because American society needs to remember and appreciate its ancestral roots. While he used primarily pathos as his method of persuasion, his argument lacks factual information and mentions minimal credibility.
In today’s society, we have former National Football League(NFL) quarterback Collin Kapernick who’s no longer in the NFL because of his protest against racial inequality. However, many people believe he is no longer in the NFL because of his talent. Kapernick led the 49ers to Super Bowl 47. Although they didn’t win, he threw for 302 yards with a touchdown and rushed for 62 yards. Therefore, he didn’t get kicked out of the league because he wasn’t good enough, but for sitting down during the national anthem.

In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents?
Texas is a staunch believer and advocate of the Tenth amendment; powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states and the people. Current governor Greg Abbott sued the Obama administration 31 times believing that the federal government has overstepped it boundaries. Texans are strong, independent people believing that they should have control on what goes on in their state. So if this is true, then why do Texans not show up at the polls? Out of the 78 percent of registered voter only 59 percent of registered voters went out to vote in the 2016 presidential election.
The American dream at one point was what drew people to American; the right to life, liberty, and the happiness. The American dream is the hope to acquire currency, large homes, raise a middle-class family, and pursue what brings people joy in life. But in the year 2016, the American dream becomes hard to believe in. The American dream may still exist, but it is not equally accessible to all Americans. This is true because the American dream is not affordable for everyone, it is not available to everyone from different degrees of education, and race and ethnicity creates large social barriers.
