Ruth Bowen was an African American entertainment booking agent, she broke race and gender barriers representing music legends including Aretha Frnaklin, Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Jr, Isley Brothers, Dionne Warwick, The Four Tops, Kool & The Gang , Bobby Womack, and others. Brown was the first black female booking agent to establish a theatrical booking agency. Ruth Bowen guided the careers of some of the most well known and successful entertainers in the world. Her musical journey began in 1944 when she met and married William “Billy” Bowen, one of the original Ink Spots, a group known as one of the first black entertainment acts to break the racial barrier. In 1974 Bowen changed the name of her Agency from QBC ( Queen Booking Corporation) to Renaissance talent, which later became the Bowen Agency Ltd, and remain until present …show more content…
