The Protestant Reformation in England, starting in 1534 with the Act of Supremacy led to a disheveled nation affected by many new policies implemented by King Henry the eighth. Catholics protested the new policies with the Pilgrimage of Grace lasting from October 1536 to February 1537. Concerning participants in the Pilgrimage of Grace was Thomas Cromwell’s subjective orders and the effects resulting from the King imposing his authority over the peasants. Participants in this march were vying for the restoration of Catholic traditions and ways of life. All of this was in response to those who were against this movement and were working to raise the Crown’s authority after being worried about an uprising or revolt against the Protestant King.

Since the life and death of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, many multitudes of people and ethnicities have had an internal conflict with their faith and belief in God. The story of Signs focuses on Graham Hess, with his two children Bo and Morgan Hess, and brother Merrill Hess. At this point in his life, Graham has experienced a major tragedy which shakes and weakens his faith and belief in God.
Christians often view salvation as a heavenly resting place; in reality, however, salvation is a lifelong journey that can bridge the gap between Heaven and Earth. This spiritual bridge can be crossed through faith coupled with good works. “Bridge”, a short story by Daniel O’Malley, features a young boy who struggles to comprehend salvation as well as find his own. This motif of salvation is achieved through the use of biblical allusions which also help support the fact that the bridge is a physical representation for the motif of the path to salvation which the narrator fails to cross. O’Malley starts his story with two biblical allusions, “...but also about the flood and locusts and frogs and other plagues that had happened before and could happen again…(192).

The salvation army helps lots of people though the many programs they have to offer. Some of these are alcohol/drug rehabilitation, family sheltering and other family/ children program. The salvation army was founded in 1865, east end of london by william booth, for the purpose of offering help to poor as well as preaching the gospel, they help hundreds of families, 3rd world countries and have many programs that support people from poverty many places only ask you to attend your masses. As they gained funding by many volunteer from students to everyday people, and people donating money and other goods they were able to do fulfill one of their biggest projects done yearly, which is the christmas toy drive collecting over 1300 donations and helping over 6000 family just in Middlesex.

During the interview with Timothy Hughes, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, many difficult and probing questions were asked to discover the heart of his decision making process. The pastor, making himself available for this interview answered with much openness and transparency revealing how he makes decisions regarding a variety of issues. In regards to fear and its impact on his decision making, one could ascertain that this pastor uses acknowledgement of his fear to provide balance in this process. Throughout the history, there have been heated discussions on what constitutes a good life. Philosophers have given different annotations on the meaning of good life based on their beliefs, perspectives or even scientific-based evidences. Some view a good life as an accumulation of material goods that brings “large amount” of pleasure to oneself. On the other hand, Mencius and Aristotle advocate good life as possessing of pleasure that incorporates ethical values and they believe that by doing so one will experience enduring happiness. There is no ultimate right or wrong for these interpretations since this is not a factual question.
The term “spiritual formation” can mean diverse things to different people. For me as a Christian, spiritual formation is the process by which God forms a person into His image. The goal of formation, as expressed by Ashbrook (2009), is “a Love Relationship with God…to live fully and freely in His love, and to respond by loving Him as well” (p. 26). Many experiences, both positive and negative, shape an individual’s relationship with God. The journey of formation will be distinctive, and often enigmatic except in hindsight, for each individual.
