Pony goes home neglecting the fact that Johnny had died. Then when he gets home Dally calls and says that he had robed the shop and that the police were following him, when they all see him he raises his gun so that the police would shoot him, that was his way of committing
The church that Johnny and Ponyboy stayed in burnt down. Thus, Johnny died. Although they share a great deal of similarities the movie and novel are very different.
Even though he has done some really bad things, he still has good inside of him. Dally is a great example of how no matter what your background is you can still commit an act of heroism. The best example is when during the fire in the church, a falling timber hits Johnny and Dally runs in to save him. One of the teachers of the kids that Ponyboy and Johnny saved, describes Dally’s action like this. “He burned one arm pretty badly… trying to drag the other kid out the window.”
Yes any of the greasers can be a hero by just doing one little thing and they don’t even realize that they are a hero. Darry is a hero because after his parents died, he had to take care of his siblings Ponyboy and Sodapop. The text states on page two it states “ Darry’s hard and firm and rarely grins at all.
In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, Ponyboy Curtis and other Greasers have an encounter with the Socs. At one point in the story, Ponyboy and Johnny end up getting jumped in the park by Bob and his Soc gang. Pony ends up almost getting drowned and then Johnny ends up stabbing Bob. Then, they end up having to hang out at a church. Later on, the church ends up getting lit on fire and Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally end up saving some of them.
His back had been broken when that piece of timber fell on him. He was in severe shock and suffering from third-degree burns” (Hitnon, 32). This shows Johnny being in the building with a fire. He came out with a lot of damage to his body but Ponyboy wasn’t very hurt. There is friendship shown here since Johnny sacrificed his body so his friend didn’t get hurt as
Although Johnny knew it was the right choice, some of the buildings debris fell on Johnny’s back, fell on Johnny’s back, which broke his spine and killed him. Ponyboy was terrified when Johnny saved the kids, and when Johnny’s injury affected him badly. But when Ponyboy found out Johnny was going to die he was horrified. Ponyboy said, “Then I heard Johnny scream, and as I turned to go back to him, Dally swore behind me and clubbed me as hard as he could across the back (pg.93)”. From this text we can infer that Ponyboy wanted to help when he heard Johnny scream, but
The Greasers turn into heroes as they rescue the kids from the burning church. It doesn't take long for Ponyboy and Dally to heal up. Johnny, on the other hand, ends up with a broken back and severe burns. The boys are praised for their heroism, but Johnny is charged with manslaughter for killing Bob, while Ponyboy may be sent to a boys'
In "The Outsiders," by S. E. Hinton Johnny, Ponyboy and Dally are all heroes. This can be seen when Ponyboy and Johnny risk their lives running into the burning church to save the children inside, even though they could have gotten hurt. Evidence of this heroism is stated in the following passage, "'I'll get them, don't worry!' I started a dead run run for the church, and the man caught my arm. ' I'll get them.
The Life of a Greaser: Is it Really That Simple? Imagine your whole life, you were split into social groups that determined who you are. This is what is happening in The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. These groups are struggling to be understood by each other, when in reality they are the same. Many see Ponyboy, the main character, as the guy who makes terrible decisions.
If Dally used justice he would have reported Two-bit. “Sixteen years on the streets and you can learn a lot. But all the wrong things, not the things that you want to learn”-The Outsiders. Another thing that proves my point is that they learned all this stuff on the streets and they know that Johnny killed Bob, so Dally is telling the cops they went to Texas for Johnny and Ponyboy. He is not having justice he is being
Do you consider yourself a hero? In the book the outsiders for me Johnny is considered the most heroic character all because of his noble, courageous and selfless attitude. Johnny shows these characteristics all throughout the book in many ways. Johnny was a hero because of his noble actions in protecting Pony. Towards the beginning of the book the soc’s were trying to drown pony in the lake.
So, they went to Dally and they got some money or food, a gun, and a jacket for Ponyboy. They went to Dally because they knew if they wanted to get out of town and away from prying cops, they knew Dally would be the person to make it happen. While they were in the church Dally had sent them to a week prior, Jonny fell asleep with a cigarette still lit without Jonny realizing it. Later that day, Dally showed up and took them to lunch for some real food.
The first time we see this is after Johnny and Ponyboy arrive fresh from the murder to seek Dally’s help. He gives them dry clothes, a loaded gun, fifty dollars, and tells them a location to hide in. He gave them the essentials they need even though he could have gone to jail. Darry would have even beat up Dally to death for helping them escape town and giving them a gun and money. According to Ponyboy, “...he [Dally] got drunk, he rode in rodeos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks, jumped small kids—he did everything.”
After Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally saved the kids from the church fire, Jerry the school teacher said, “Mrs. O’Briant and I think you were sent straight from heaven. Or are you just professional heroes or something” (95). This proves that even though they sometimes make bad choices, the Greasers actually do know when to do the right thing. Also, it shows that they care for and will protect others, and even the adults acknowledge that. So although somebody who disagrees with the statement that there is honor among the lawless would say the Greasers did not respect
