The famous person of my choice that suffers from the psychological disorder paranoid personality disorder is Saddam Hussein. Saddam Hussein was the fifth president of Iraq and ruled for more than two decades from 16 July 1979 – 9 April 2003. He was seen as a face of the country 's military conflicts between Iran and the United States. His presidency evolved into a dictatorship that upset many of the people. He publically became an aggressive dictator that was starting conflicts with many countries and creating enemies. The reasons behind his many conflicts and disputes with the other nations was his paranoia. “He doubted all of his companions, family members, and everyone around him”(). People who suffer from these disorders usually seem strange. One characteristic of someone who suffers from PPD is paranoia. It contains a large amount of suspicion and mistrust with no specific reason. This disorder is usually starts during the person’s childhood or early adolescence. The sufferers source of paranoid personality disorder is unknown, but it could be linked to biological and psychological factors that come from heredity. People with family members who have schizophrenia are usually more at risk to receive paranoid personality disorder. “With commitment from individuals with the disorder, treatment for paranoid personality disorder can help alleviate PPD symptoms. If the patient commits to treatment, the psychiatrist or psychologist will likely use talk or psychotherapy”(). Although symptoms can be relieved, they are not completely taken away. It is not curable but very effective when it comes to sedating the patient. Usually to take away the paranoia of the people who suffer from paranoid personality disorder, doctors prescribe antipsychotics and other drugs to help with their condition. A few more examples of the treatment would be antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and psychotherapy. Another slightly not legal substance that isn’t recommended by doctors that takes away paranoia is marijuana. “Marijuana is a common street and recreational drug that comes from the marijuana plant: the hemp plant cannabis sativa. The pharmacologically active ingredient in marijuana is tetra-hydro-cannabinol (THC). Marijuana is used to heighten perception, affect mood, and relax”(Dryden-Edwards). The thc in marijuana calms down the patient. The chemical components of thc accesses a point in the persons mind that gives them a calm sedated
