Need of Safe and Liberal Abortion Laws in India

The proposition of abortion brings into legal, moral as well as associated dilemmas. The dilemmas are regarding genetics, medicine, sexuality, jurisprudence, integrity of body (women right over her body), choice of being mother, the choice to stay pregnant or to terminate the pregnancy, the choice of abortion irrespective of marriage, right to life of fetus ect.
The abortions laws are restrictive or liberal. The restrictive abortion laws means abortion allowed subject to some conditions (up-to a particular period, threat to the life of the mother, deformed or defective fetus, pregnancy as a result of rape or incest etc). The liberal law of abortion means abortion allowed without restrictions as to a particular period of Gestation (mostly 10 to 14 weeks) and other restraints. The question is what right an unmarried women has regarding abortion if by choice or unwantedly she gets pregnant . Does the changing society where the youngster prefer to be in live in relationship rather than to be in a legally committed relationship demands the right of unmarried women for abortions. We should not forget that it is the women womb which carries the fetus. It is her body which releases the hormones. It affects her mental as well as physical health.
