Sal And Phoebe Characters

Phoebe and Sal go on an amazing adventure to find their mothers. Sal and Phoebe are the main characters in this novel. Phoebe's story, the subplot and Sals story, the main plot, both relate to each other in many ways.
Sal starts a great story about a girl named Phoebe, but what she does not know is that is very similar to her own story. In other words, Creech is saying, “Instantly, Phoebe Winterbottom came to life”(8). This is the introduction to the subplot of Phoebe Winterbottom. Creech’s point is that “I definitely don't want to like Mrs.Cadaver” (21). Phoebe thinks Mrs.Cadaver is bad and is telling Sal about the possible love between Mrs.Cadaver and Sals dad. In other words Creech is saying that “as we left Phoebe’s house, there on the porch was a blue evolve with a blue piece of paper inside” (56). Phoebe now thinks that a lunatic is after her and her family. Phoebe thinks that a lunatic, maybe Mrs.Cadaver is after her. But Phoebe learns some stuff about the lunatic.

Creech is saying “I saw Phoebe's lunatic coming toward us” (110). This is their first interaction with the lunatic. Creech’s point is that “I have to go away for awhile, I can’t explain, I’ll call you in a few days”(117). Phoebe’s mother ran away without any explanation, just like Sal's mother did. Creech is insisting that, “I woke up to the sound of Phoebe crying in her sleep” (123). Phoebe is breaking down because her mother ran away, Sal also went through those stages. Phoebe's mother ran away or got kidnapped by the lunatic, Phoebe started to break down and
