I am speechless at what is happening in this book. Tita knew of the consequences from the beginning. Good thing that she actually isn’t pregnant. I think that Mama Elena’s spirit was trying to warn Tita of the bad things that she was doing, but Tita wasn’t interested in hearing what she had to say. If Gertrudis wasn’t there, I don’t think Pedro would’ve ever found out that Tita was expecting his child.
Starting with the first poem, TKAM can relate to this because it is similar to how Jem and Scout would walk to home from school. The first section states how the writer can remember calling their mother from the hall in the basement. This gives me an image of Scout or Jem calling Atticus. Sections two through 4 basically just gives an imagery of Scout, Jem, and occasionally Dill walking to their house. The final section stands out though because in the book, Scout does explain how her and Jem did walk home from school during winter.
A few months pass by in what seems like the blink of an eye. People come and go, to check on them and their classmates and sometimes they tell them what happens in the world they seem to have left behind. Kuzuryuu only half-listens, he has to admit. Not because he doesn’t care, because he does and he knows that he should, seeing how most of it it’s fault, too.
The unnamed narrator of the story discovers from a newspaper that his younger brother, Sonny, has been arrested for selling and using heroin. As he prepares to teach his algebra class, the narrator remembers Sonny as a young boy. His students, he realizes, could someday end up like Sonny, given the obstacles and hardships they face growing up in Harlem. At the end of the school day, the narrator heads home, but he notices that one of Sonny’s old friends, who is always high and dirty, is waiting for him by the school. The two men walk together, talking about Sonny.
Dialectical Journal Entry #1 A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini Passage: “But I’m a different breed of man, Mariam. Where I come from, one wrong look, one improper word, and blood is spilled. Where I come from, a woman’s face is her husband’s business only. I want you to remember that.
1. The author wants the reader to have empathy or understand where he’s coming from. The author states “You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that I gave utterance to a threat.” He tries to justify his future crime and wants the readers to understand.
Salvador the boy that is no one's friend, runs in that vague direction where the houses are the color of bad weather. In the Vignette Salvador Late or Early, Sandra Cisneros uses Style, and Characterization to show readers that there is more than meets the eye to Salvador and that he has many responsibilities. Cisneros uses style to keep the story interesting as well as giving the story Characteristics. Using long sentences to add syntax errors like in normal speech, and short sentences to add detail.

“What is lituare but the expression of moods by the vehicle of symbol and incident?” William Butler Yeats once stated. The mood of a person or character can be told in multiple ways from movements, actions or things going on around the characters. Mood is in every story and every person. In the short story “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W Jacobs, the author uses dialogue and descriptive adjectives to develop the mood and tone of the story and characters.

Goodall writes about the chimpanzees in Gombe as if they were human characters in a story. The audience connects with these characters because the experiences that the chimpanzees go through are comparable to milestones in human development. Experiences such as community, family, love, and loss are central themes in the book and further build an emotional connection between the author and the reader. Although Through a Window reads like story, the book is grounded in scientific research about animal behaviour.
Santiago agreed and made the adult decision to leave his home and begin exploring the world. Being a shepherd wasn’t his ideal plan, but it was the first step to fulfilling his dream. Little Dog reflects on the memory skills of monkeys and notes that they are capable of recalling vast amounts of information and applying them to current problem-solving. He also observes that monkeys are capable of traits once thought to be unique to humans, Some species have displayed behavior indicating the use of judgment, creativity, and even language. They are able to recall past images and apply them to current problem solving. In other words, “macaques employ memory in order to survive,” similar to humans (Vuong, 42). By emphasizing the importance of memory and storytelling through this metaphor, Little Dog is highlighting the power of narrative and the ways in which it can shape our understanding of the world.
