Perhaps, my interest deals with how an American songwriter tell about a trouble city in such a profound way in his songs. Yet, I hear my own life as a child growing up in the city of chicago, and the lyrics to Curtis Mayfield songs speaks the truth, as if he would have song about what his eyes were seeing in a city of poverty and lack in aid. He was often described a vulgar and many accused him of corrupting the youth.
